Adobe Systems Inc. has launched a new digital viewing app in partnership with the technology magazine WIRED. The new digital reader called Adobe WIRED is already available as an app for the iPad from the Apple iTunes app store. The software can also assist publishers in displaying their print content in the digital form for viewing through handheld devices.

The Adobe WIRED reader allows for content to be displayed in full color and also in an interactive format. Slideshows, 360 degree images, video clips for articles and for advertisements and the content shifting orientation for easy view in both the horizontal and vertical modes are some of the forms of content that the WIRED reader is capable of showing. The content has to be created first using Adobe’s InDesign Creative Suite 5 (CS5) software.

Adobe also revealed plans to develop the software for multiple hardware platforms including smartphones and other handheld devices. Magazines created using Adobe InDesign CS5 can be easily converted into digital form using the WIRED software that allowed for interfacing using gestures and browsing in zoomed out mode.

The June issue of the WIRED magazine is already available for the WIRED reader app which can be downloaded for the iPad from the iTunes app store for a price of $4.99.
