Sprint HTC Evo 4G Unofficial Android Froyo 2.2 Upgrade Available Now

June 1, 2010, By Atul Roach

Sprint HTC Evo 4G is already being crowned as the best smartphone ever by people who got lucky to explore it pre-release and now there is more ‘unofficial’ Android goodness available for the upcoming handset. Sprint HTC Evo 4G has been hacked to run on Android Froyo and the guys to port this latest Android version on to the Evo 4G ‘as always’ hail from the xda-developer forums. This time around the magician is Richard Ross, who has even posted a video of his feat. [check video after jump]

Things have been on the move after the Google I/O conference and if you remember, HTC Evo 4G was rooted last week by Startup founder Mr. Matt Mastracci, but he chose not to describe the procedure for some unexplained reasons.

Google may have been the unintentional contributor to this feat as it gave an Evo 4G to the ‘hungry’ developers present at the I/O event and Richard cashed in on the opportunity.

For the records, HTC has mentioned that the Froyo update will be made available once the Sense UI is ported to the new version of Android.
