Apple has revealed that its sales figures for the iPad have crossed the two million mark within a period of 60 days since it was first launched in the US. iPad sales have increased since it was released outside the US on May 28 in Europe, Australia and Japan.

According to a press release from the Cupertino-based company, the iPad will be released in an additional nine countries in July and will continue to be released in more countries later this year. It also admitted that the company was finding it difficult to meet the demand from consumers and expressed appreciation for the patience of customers who had ordered the device and were waiting for delivery. However, the number of apps downloaded for the iPad as well as the number of iBook titles that were downloaded by iPad users were not mentioned in the press release.

Apple has earlier announced on May 3 that it had sold its one millionth iPad in the US within a month since its launch on April 3. The device allows users to access the web on 3G and/or WiFi networks, download apps, read e-books and send and receive emails besides browsing photos playing games and performing other multimedia functions.
