Android 2.2 Froyo For Nexus One Brings Cool Multitouch Touch Gestures

May 27, 2010, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

The Android 2.2 Froyo update that became available from Google for a short while on some of its Nexus One handsets came with some cool features. The ease of operation while using the Android 2.2 Froyo can be seen in the video at the bottom of this post. It shows a few new touch gestures being used on a Nexus One handset with Froyo, to browse through the photo gallery. The smooth functioning of the interface while using the handset can be seen in the video.

Google later removed the Froyo update from its support pages but certain other links are still present on the internet that allow the update to be downloaded manually by the user. However, downloading from these locations could be risky as the update might not be original.

The update was earlier available only on handsets containing the “non-rooted stock ERE27 system” as mentioned on a Google link. But links for downloading an update for rooted Nexus One handsets were soon available online as well, though users were advised to install the particular download at their own risk.
