May 26, 2010, By Atul Roach

Those who prefer to remain away from the world of smartphones and like the simple but durable low-cost handsets should probably find the Samsung Rugby II from AT&T as an interesting proposition. Talk about being rugged and durable, you’ll be impressed to know that this Samsung Rugby successor meets the military standard MIL-STD-810G certification. Such certification implies that the device is almost immune to dust, shock, vibration, rain, humidity, solar radiation, altitude and temperature extremes.

A rugged handset that has much to offer other than just being tough, the Rugby II supports dual-band 7.2Mbps HSPA and quad-band GSM connectivity.

Other features on this utterly rugged clamshell include a 2.0 megapixel camera, aGPS and PTT on a national plan for $5 per month. There is a slot for a micorSD card, while Bluetooth also makes it as a standard feature.

Another attraction is the Audience-powered intelligent voice processor which effectively suppresses any kind of background noises that hinder a clear conversation. AT&T will make the clamshell available June 6
onwards and it will cost $129.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate for two years.
