Motorola Droid Android 2.2 Update Expected “In the Near Future”

May 24, 2010, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

Motorola is bringing in Android 2.2 to the Droid, and this is expected to happen in the near future. That could also mean the Motorola is pretty excited about the prospects that Froyo will bring with it. We also think this could be an exciting proposition when the Android 2.2 actually comes along.

From what we get to know from reports talking of Froyo on Droid, we have enough reasons to believe that Motorola would indeed integrate the Google OS on its handsets.

A spokesperson for Motorola has been quoted by writers at Slashgear as saying that the company is excited to see Google’s next version of the Android OS. He has also said that Motorola is indeed looking forward to integrating Froyo on its Android-based devices as it’s made available to the open source community. That, of course, sounds great.

So that could mean the Motorola Droid could get Froyo integrated on to its Android devices as soon as Google gets the OS updated for its Nexus One. We expect that by saying “in the near future”, the Motorola spokesperson could be having a date of launch in his mind. We are looking forward to that “near future.” May be Verizon Wireless might be lining up a date and we could latch on to that info soon. Watch this space.
