Peugeot 308 GTi Officially Announced: Specs, Features & Pricing

May 21, 2010, By Alex Ion

After a long wait (some 10 years now), the new Peugeot 308 GTi has just been officially launched. The little monster is running on a 1.6 liter THP (turbocharged direct-injection) engine that outputs nothing less than 200 PS (147 kW) — same as the RCZ Coupe — which is comparable to the Golf GTI that outputs 211PS.

Getting back to the new Peugeot 308 GTi, it’s pretty interesting to know that the motor is fitted with a twin-Scroll turbocharger and a high pressure direct-injection system with VTi technology, mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. All these help the 308 GTi to sprint from naught to 100km/h in 7.7 seconds, while maintaining an average fuel consumption of 6.9 liters/100 km and CO2 emissions of 159 g/km.

It features 18-inch wheels, a rear spoiler, a lowered rear bumper fitted to a black (Perla Nera) diffuser and dual chrome exhaust pipes. On the front level there’s a lowering panel and a carbon-style insert beneath the front bumper, that makes it a bit more aggressive.

The new Peugeot 308 GTi should be available to customers in France, starting June 10, with prices going North of €26,900.
