HTC Desire & HTC Incredible Android 2.2 Upgrade Is Now Officially Confirmed; EVO 4G & myTouch to Follow

May 21, 2010, By Alex Ion

HTC have officially announced that anyone who bought a handset from their 2010 collection will be getting the Android 2.2 upgrade as soon as the OS is officially rolled out. While the company wants you to believe that all mobile phones launched this year will get the Froyo treatment, we’re hearing that the HTC Desire and the HTC Incredible are probably the first in line.

In an official statement they say that  “if your phone was launched this year, we will most likely offer an upgrade for it to the Froyo version.” And they continue, “this includes popular models like the Desire and Droid Incredible as well as hotly anticipated phones like the Evo 4G, MyTouch slide and upcoming models.”

If you remember, market analysts speculated that the Nexus One has an advantage when it comes to getting the latest versions of Android. But from what we’re seeing HTC has a great relation with Google: “”We are working closely with Google and our other partners to ensure we have the earliest access to everything we need to provide a complete and solid Sense experience on Froyo,” they continued.

From what we’re hearing the Android 2.2 upgrade for the HTC Desire, the Incredible, the EVO 4G or the myTouch (and we still hope the HTC Legend will be on the list, too) should be available to users sometime in the second half of 2010, “but we can’t be more specific than that”, HTC said.

Rest patiently folks, you’ll be getting Froyo this year, we just don’t know exactly when.
