BlackBerry Bold 9800 Release Date Rumors, Leaked Images: Sexy Slider Uses WebKit Browser [Formerly BlackBery Storm3]

May 21, 2010, By Intermaggio

Weeks ago, we showed you leaked images of a mysterious BlackBerry slider, rumored to be called BlackBerry Storm3. We now have some updated images of the same device running software, and apparently renamed. The BlackBerry Storm3 is now the BlackBerry Bold 9800.

The 9800 will sport a QWERTY keyboard as well as a full touchscreen, giving the phone everything you need to work productively on-the-go. The image below shows the phone’s version and model information, confirming that it is currently being called the BlackBerry 9800.

The biggest news, however, is that this phone appears to be running a WebKit browser, meaning it will have some amazing functionality that puts it ahead of the majority of competitors.

The WebKit browser will allow users to browse in multiple tabs- much like PC browsers today. From the image above, it looks like rather than traditional tabs, the 9800 will use miniature preview boxes to help you get to the screen you want when browsing multiple websites at once. No word on what the maximum number of tabs will be yet, but it’s an exciting innovation nonetheless!

The BlackBerry Bold 9800 is yet to be officially announced, but the release date for the phone is rumored to be June 2010- so stay tuned, and we’ll let you know when this piece of equipment is ready for public use!
