HP ships Envy 17 and refreshed Pavilion notebooks

The HP Envy 17 notebook whcih was officially confirmed a few weeks ago has now started shipping. The starting price is $1,399 for a basic Core i5 configuration and going up quite a bit once you throw in the customizations. Also shipping now are refreshed versions of the Pavilion line of laptops with updated versions of dm4, dv5, dv6 and dv7. The new notebooks come with metal casings and swirly paint jobs. The dv6 is the cheapest at $699 and all the others with predictably higher pricetags.

The HP Envy 17 is an all-aluminium notebook, with backlit keyboard and slot-loading optical drives. Configuration options include Core i5 processor, ATi Mobility Radeon graphics, and 7,200 rpm harddrives. Even without the Optimus graphics technology for power saving, HP claims upto eight hours of battery life with the discrete GPU turned off. The Envy 17 will also be available with a Core i7 option and upto 2TB of storage.
