Video: How to install the Android 2.1 update for the Sprint HTC Hero

May 17, 2010, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

A leaked version of the official Android 2.1 update from Sprint for the HTC Hero phone has been found floating around on the Net for the past few days. The update for the HTC Hero seems to have come right after the release of the official Android 2.1 update for the Samsung Moment smartphone.

The timing of the official update being available directly on the phone is still in doubt as it is dependant on the phone user’s location and carrier network. It is known that regional Android updates are not composed by Google, but by the networks themselves.

Those who have already installed the update have said that it is the true update and that it works very well. Though the version is yet to feature in the support pages of Sprint, the company has revealed in customer calls that the update is the official version. So it seems safe enough to install.

Check out the video tutorial below to watch how the update works and to install the update on your own HTC Hero.
