Sprint Android 2.1 Update for Samsung Moment Now Available For Download

May 14, 2010, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

The Android 2.1 update for Samsung Moment smartphones operating on the Sprint network has been released by the carrier. Though the previous build of Android 2.1 CL14 is still listed in Sprint’s support page, once you click on the download link, you will be directed to an updater that upgrades the operating system to build DE03. The updating process must only be done from a Windows operated PC and back ups of all the critical data on the smartphone must be created before starting the update process.

This is advised, along with removing the microSD card on the device, as the user data present in the device will be erased during the update process.

Sprint is also now providing manual update on its support site. However, since the Android 2.1 update has not been announced officially by Sprint yet, it is not clear whether an automatic update will be released by the company.

The new update is expected to enable faster browsing due to an improved HTML 5 browser and complete access to the existing Android Market. The newly introduced voice recognition system is also expected to be a part of the new Android 2.1 update from Sprint.
