Pre-Order The HTC EVO 4G Through Best Buy: With A Catch

May 14, 2010, By Intermaggio

The HTC EVO 4G has been popping up a lot lately in tech news. At long last, the awesome phone is available for pre-order through Best Buy, with a catch.

The HTC EVO 4G is available for pre-order through Best Buy, meaning that when the phone is released, there’ll be no waiting in line for hours, or skipping out on work to make sure you get yours before they sell out. In an lengthy press release, Sprint tells us that the phone will be available in several retail locations in addition to Best Buy.

The catch is, you can’t pre-order the device online- you have to do it in person in a Best Buy store. From what we can tell, Best Buy wants to keep some of the hype of having to come to the store to get the phone, while avoiding the stress and frustration of having to wait in line on the release day.

In any case, we’re very excited to see the EVO finally becoming available.

Here’s a quick recap of the phone’s specs:

  • Large, vibrant 4.3-inch screen
  • Blazing-fast 1 GHz Snapdragon processor
  • Top-notch HTML Web browser
  • Two cameras, including an 8.0MP
  • 3G/4G mobile hotspot capability connects up to 8 Wi-Fi-enabled devices
  • Google mobile services including Google Maps, Gmail and YouTube
  • Social network integration with Facebook, Twitter, Flickr and more
  • Works in 3G and 4G markets
  • HDMI connection

What’s your take on Best Buy’s decision to make buyers pre-order through the store?
