BlackBerry Bold 9700 OS Official Version Out; Head for TurkCell to Download

May 14, 2010, By Sanjeev Ramachandran

In case you haven’t heard about this as yet, the new version of the official OS for BlackBerry Bold 9700 is now available for download. Interested? Head for the Turkcell  website and click download. Numbered, the new version of the OS  is out there for users to check their current version numbers using the Device Manager that is available with the Black Berry software. The Device Manager can also be used to install the update, or it can be done over the Internet.

The data backup process before installing the update, as well as the data restoration process after finishing the update, is automatically done by the Device Manager application. However, personally backing up the data is usually advised as a precaution.

Users of BlackBerry Bold 9700 operating on carriers other than Turkcell can install the update after deleting the vendor.xml file present in the update package.

A version of the same OS was earlier available on the Internet, but it was then reported that the version was a leak and not an official release from BlackBerry maker Research In Motion (RIM). Users who had ignored the leaked version in favor of the official version can now update the software on their Bold 9700 handsets. An OS update is recommended as it clears the bugs, issues and problems that exist in the current version.  This one looks like it’s more dependable. Go for it?
