Valve Releases Steam for the Mac; Get Platform for Free Until May 24th!

Well folks, it’s finally here – the long-awaited release for Valve’s Steam content distribution system to Apple’s Mac OS is, as of a few minutes ago, a reality! Valve will be rolling out Mac versions of their popular titles in the coming days/weeks, starting with Portal, which is already available – and it’s actually completely free!

That’s right, if you claim your copy before May 24th, you’ll get it absolutely free, no strings attached! (as Valve themselves put it) The offer is valid for Windows users, not just Mac ones, so even if you don’t own an Apple computer, don’t worry – just head on over to the link at the bottom to grab your copy. Steam itself is completely free if you’re not familiar with it, so even if you don’t own it, you still won’t have to pay a single cent for the deal!

Apart from that, a variety of other titles are already available for download to Mac users – from indie games like World of Goo, to large-scale commercial titles like Torchlight. The collection isn’t that impressive so far, but it’s just the beginning.
