ASUS Eee PC 900AX announced, bringing back 8.9-inch netbooks

Asus has just announced its new Eee PC 900AX netbook, breaking the lull in the sub 9-inch netbook category, since most manufacturers have gone over to the 10.1 inch form factor. The 900AX is the rehash of an older netbook model with a rather old Atom N270 1.6GHz processor under the hood and 1GB of RAM. While this may give the impression that Asus is charging you for what is basically an old model. Even though pricing has not yet been revealed, the Eee PC 900AX is expected to come with a budget pricetag.

The Eee PC 900AX has a 8.9 inch 1024×600 display and 160 GB HDD for storage. For connectivity, it has two USB 2.0 ports, VGA, Audio In/Out and WiFi b/g. The 900AX will come preloaded with Windows XP rather than Windows 7 Starter Edition which has become almost a standard in the netbook segment.
No pricetag or release date has been revealed yet.
