Sprint Locked Blackberry Bold 9650 Begins Shipping May 23 for $200 on Contract

April 26, 2010, By Atul Roach

Earlier in the day we talked about the BlackBerry Tour successor, the BlackBerry Bold 9650 and we did mention that both Verizon and Sprint will be interested to offer the handset as early as possible. While VZW is expected to offer the device ‘hopefully’ in the first week of May, Sprint could not digest the excitement anymore and it has right away announced the Tour successor for May 23.

May 23rd will be the day when Sprint will eventually start shipping the face-lifted RIM smartphone which will as usual look to target the business types who need a scheduler and a great emailing device with them all the time.

The Bold 9650 will be available for a reasonable $199.99 after a $100 mail-in-rebate for a contract time of two years. There will be no exclusive cities to get the Bold 9650 first and it will be available uniformly across all Sprint stores in the US.

Big Red is also in the ranks to market the Bold 9650 as quickly as possible and we might soon have a more specific release announcement from them as well, given the fact that Sprint has Alvarado done so.
