Amazon Kindle E-Reader to be Available at Target Retail Stores From April 25

The rumors have been put to rest. Confirmation from Amazon has come with regard to the arrival date of the Kindle. The e-reader is now scheduled to arrive at Target retail stores on April 25. The Kindle launch on April 25 will also mark a first for Amazon as it would be its first ever experience selling the Kindle or almost any product at retail.

The impending arrival of the Kindle at Target Stores is a shift from the company’s earlier strategy of selling its devices via its website. This strategy had in fact been not too good as far as sales is concerned as most of the customers preferred buying the Amazon device only after trying it out at least once. This had in fact kept sales low. Realization that Apple has been selling its iPad via retailers, its own stores and also BestBuy and some third-party retailers may be believed to be prompting Amazon to go for the retail route.

By April 25, the six-inch version of the Kindle e-reader will be available at both Target’s pioneering store in Minneapolis store as well as 102 stores in southern Florida, said the company.  The retail price has been kept the same as the online price, at $259.
