Panasonic Lumix G2 and G10 Micro Four Thirds Cameras: Pricing & Availability Announced

After an official unveiling sometime in March, Panasonic have announced today details on pricing and availability for their new Lumix G2 and G10 Micro Four Thirds cameras. While there’s no word on an exact date when you’ll be able to bag one, Panasonic says that both models will be available in “late-May”, with the G2 coming in red, blue or black for a $799.95 price tag and the black-only G10 selling for $599.95.

For those out of the know, the new Panasonic Lumix G2 is the first camera to come with a digital interchangeable lens system. It features a removable touch LCD screen, has advanced audio options that include Dolby Digital Creator to record audio and a Wind Cut function that helps reduce background noise, and shoots 720p HD videos (1280 x 720) in the AVCHD Lite format.

Other specs include a 12.1-megapixel sensor, Venus Engine HD II, and LUMIX G VARIO 14-42mm/F3.5-5.6 ASPH/MEGA O.I.S. lens.

As for the Panasonic Lumix G10, it’s an entry level model that advertises itself as an affordable, high-performing camera. It comes with an incredible compact body and a portable design that makes it the world’s lightest digital interchangeable lens camera with a viewfinder. It record 720p HD video in JPEG, QVGA, VGA and WVGA formats, and features the same sensor and lens.
