Leica V-Lux 20 Compact Camera Details and Pricing Announced

April 20, 2010, By Atul Roach

Those of you looking for a decent camera grab this summer have another standard option up your sleeve in the form of the Leica V-Lux 20 Compact camera. Agreed that it is not blessed with the greatness of a Nikon or a Cannon option but, we’ve always loved the lens that this brand offers and this alone is a good enough reason to bring home the V-Lux 20.

V-Lux 20 is a compact option with a 12.1 megapixel sensor that fetches a whopping 12x optical zoom and a novelty to the brand is the built-in GPS feature that enables geo-tagging.

The camera is finished in matte-black color scheme and it offers 720p/60fps Motion JPEG video recording, a 460,000 pixel 3-inch LCD, 11-point AF and SD/SDHC/SDXC storage. Just so you like the manual control, there is a manual mode which offers plenty of features to take total control.

The compact camera option is a bit of a disappointment when you consider the price tag it bears against the overall quality of the product. Being released in the UK first (next month), the V-Lux 20 is priced at £495. It is being hoped that the camera will be more competitively priced when it hits the US markets later this year.
