A maintenance update has brought in a new firmware in the Nokia N86. The 142 MB, firmware version 30.009 is believed to have spruced up the handset by adding a slew of new features. These include location sharing via Facebook, Nokia’s latest Ovi Maps 3.3 that comes with free navigation and more.

By going for an update, you stand the chance to upgrade the features on your Nokia N86.

You can go in for an update easily by using the Nokia Software Updater which comes as part of the PC suite.  What we get to understand is that this could be the last firmware update for the Nokia N86 8MP handset. Apart from the latest Ovi Maps client, bug fixes and improvements of Nokia Messaging, an updated RealPlayer and aspects that could make the device more stable and faster will be placed inside the phone as part of the update.

Significantly, the update could be made Over The Air too. The most important thing to bear in mind if you need to take this route, make sure that you are in some fast hotspot where download speeds are better. And, you may have to shell out a few dollars for that.
