According to an unofficial report from a Verizon Wireless source, the BlackBerry Bold 9650 will be announced next week at the Wireless Enterprise Symposium ( WES ). The conference is being organized by RIM and will kick off on April 27th. The BlackBerry Bold 9650, earlier codenamed the Essex or Tour2, will be a successor to the original BlackBerry Tour. The smartphone is expected to be available by May 1st.

The Bold 9650 will have features similar to the original BlackBerry Tour such as the 3G quadband connectivity, 3.2 megapixel camera with autofocus and a 2.7” 480×360 display. Also present is GPS support, with preloaded BlackBerry Maps application and picture geo-tagging capability. The New additions include WiFi support and an optical trackpad in place of the trackball. So far, only a few leaked images of the handset are available. The Sprint version of the BlackBerry Bold 9650 should also be available soon.
