Adobe CEO: Flash Support for the BlackBerry, Android and webOS Smartphones Coming in the Second Half of 2010, no Support for Apple

April 19, 2010, By Radimir Bobev

It’s no secret that Apple are against supporting Flash for their iPhone’s OS 4.0 – so noone’s expecting it to happen. Adobe’s president doesn’t seem to agree with Apple’s views very much himself either, from what we can tell.

Nevertheless, in an interview asking him about the lack of support for Flash in Apple’s phones and the company’s plans for the future, he stated that Flash 10.1 is coming for the Android, BlackBerry and webOS smartphones in the second half of this year.

Also, according to him, several companies like Google, RIM and Palm are going to provide support for various Flash versions on their smartphones and tablets. The news that Google and BlackBerry tablets are getting flash support is great – on more than one levels, for some users. He didn’t state any particular release dates, though he assured users that the new Flash will offer a true web surfing experience.

We’ll keep you updated as more information becomes available.
