Nokia C3, Nokia C6 & Nokia E5 — Fresh Trio of Standard Phones Almost Deliver the Smartphone Experience

April 13, 2010, By Atul Roach

Nokia N8-00 hopefuls (the next Nokia smartphone flagship) will be all complaints as Nokia unveiled a fresh trio- C3, C6, E5- of utility handsets which aim to make some smartphone features mainstream. The fanatics definitely wanted to hear about the N8-00 arrival but there is a bigger market in the world for ordinary phones that can become special, and that is probably why Nokia disagreed with the fanatics, at least for now.

These phones are for the connected crowd and we begin with the C3 which is Nokia’s first Series 40 QWERTY handset that comes laden with all the social networking content on its 2.4-inch QVGA home-screen. It is a quad-band GSM candybar that will be priced at €90 and should be available anytime before June. The C3 also packs in an Opera Mini browser other than standard webkit browser

Next up is the C6 which comes with a 4-row QWERTY slider and supports both GSM and EDGE connectivity along with quad-band HSDPA/UMTS up to 2100 frequencies. The phone is not categorized a smartphone but it still runs on the 5th edition of Symbian S60. It also gets a better 3.2-inch nHD screen and a 5MP camera with flash and autofocus features intact. The C6 is priced at €220 and shall ‘again’ be available anytime before June this year.

Last on the list is the E5 which will be up for the grabs in Q3, 2010 and it will bear a price sticker of €180. This device will target users who love using a Nokia branded handset on Symbian S60 edition III, implying that it is more business centric. Its 2.4-inch LCD display is a bit of a disappointment.
