Lenovo Skylight Delayed, Possible Release Date in July

We aren’t talking about two direct competitors here as the iPad is a sheer tablet while the Lenovo Skylight is more of a conventional notebook but, it is widely believed that the iPad has delayed the Skylight release. The notebook which should have warmed up dealer shelves by now is hopefully arriving in July. Seemingly, the reason is the iPad as both these gadgets share a lot of features in common.

Some experts believe that Lenovo isn’t happy about the performance of this top-notch notebook in comparison with the Apple iPad and the apparent competitive pressure has forced Lenovo to take the release date extension.

Lenovo also thinks that the control and the feature set of the Skylight aren’t as good as they should be to be competitive in the current market scenario ruled buy tablets.

For comparison sakes, the Lenovo Skylight comes with the same 10 hours of battery life as promised by the iPad but its 1GHz processor is a tad slower. The Skylight also gets 20GB of internal storage and built-in 3G as well. Talk about price comparisons, the iPad WiFi and Skylight are equally priced at $499. There is every chance that the delay is indeed a consequence of the iPad hype. [via: Electronista]
