First-Day Buyers of Modern Warfare 2 DLC Get 7 Days of Free Xbox Live Time by Microsoft

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is undoubtedly a popular game, but it was quite shocking to see Xbox Live become so heavily affected as players rushed to download the newly-released “Stimulus Package” for the game. The problems caused the service to go down for several hours, leading to gamers being unable to try out the new content.

Microsoft is trying to make amends for their mistake and are now providing 7 days of play time to all their Xbox Live Gold members who’ve purchased the Stimulus Package on March 30 – regardless if they were affected by the downtime or not.

The bad news is that you won’t get your new playtime right away, and will have to wait until around May 1, but it doesn’t matter much – a free week is a free week!

For those who still don’t have the new package, you should seriously consider getting it, even though you won’t get any extra days now – you’ll get five new maps for the price of $15 (or 1200 MS Points), which is not a bad deal at all.
