Verizon iPhone Rumored Again, AT&T Customers May Have an Advantage

April 2, 2010, By Atul Roach

The Verizon iPhone rumors have raised their ugly head again and this time it is being speculated that Apple is working on a CDMA version of the iPhone, and it is specifically being designed for Big Red. Now if this has an element of truth, Cupertino will directly benefit from improved sales as VZW is the biggest of carriers in the US. Also, since AT&T has reached a saturation point with its iPhone sales, it is only VZW that can bring more business for Apple and eventually the largest carrier will also tend to benefit.

We understand that both VZW and Apple will stand to gain from the deal but the big question is the destiny of the AT&T customers. There is a school of thought that believes that even the AT&T customers will tend to benefit from the VZW iPhone arrival.

It is because AT&T is aware about VZW targeting its poor 3G coverage (the ad campaigns are also a proof) and if Big Red also starts selling the iPhone, AT&T will have to dig down deep to be really competitive.

Another advantage is that until date, AT&T was only thinking about the iPhone but with the exclusivity gone, AT&T will rope is other big smartphone options in the market and all those will be on offer pretty quickly. [via: Pcworld]
