Verizon Palm Pre Plus and Pixi Plus Slashes Subscription Fee for Mobile Hotspot Function

April 1, 2010, By Atul Roach

Verizon is putting in all efforts to make the Palm webOS laden devices popular and it seems that even the slashing of Pre Plus and Pixi Plus prices to $49.99 and $29.99 respectively hasn’t had any impact on the sales. Verizon is now trying its luck with another option where the Carrier has slashed fee for the Mobile hotspot like function that enables the handset to function as a 3G sharing hotspot device which can connect a maximum of five WiFi clients.

Earlier, Verizon customers who had signed up for the Mobile Hotspot function also had to pay a $40 surcharge other than the monthly charges. Customers who have already subscribed for the hotspot function will also benefit with this plan as their charges will be automatically slashed from the next bill.

It seems that Verizon is finally coming to terms with proper promotion of the device after early criticism by the Palm CEO for a poor launch of the twin smartphones.

Interestingly, Verizon still has the Bogo-buy one get one free-offer in place and now with the waiver of the hotspot charges, things should hopefully improve from here. [via: Slashgear]
