Sprint HTC EVO 4G Pre-orders Available from BestBuys in May

March 29, 2010, By Thomas Antony

HTC’s Evo 4G when revealed last week, kicked up a lot of media buzz. It was even dubbed as the “superphone” and it really is a beast of a machine. The release date for the Evo 4G is set for the second half of 2010 on Sprint’s WiMax network. But, it seems you may not have to wait that long to reserve one for yourself. Gone may be the days of standing in long lines at a Sprint store, hoping to get a chance to grab the prized gadget on the release day. Now it is rumored that you will be able to preorder the Sprint HTC Evo 4G from Best Buys around the US from May.

When it was announced at last week’s CTIA Wireless 2010 Trade Show, the HTC Evo 4G became the US’s first 4G/WiMax capable device. Of course, it is not known at the time how much Sprint is going to charge for it along with the possible compulsory dataplan that may come with the device.

The HTC Evo 4G is kind of like an Android version of the HTC HD2, only a little more beefed up. Behind the 4.3” touchscreen, there is a roaring 1GHz SnapDragon processor, 512MB of RAM and Android 2.1 with HTC Sense UI with all those cool Live Wallpapers. Also in the device is 720p HD video recording capability and native DivX decoding.

The BestBuy presale will get you a gift card that you can essentially use as a ticket to buy the handset once it releases.
