The iPad will not be short of competitors this Spring and another capable brand posing a threat will be Archos. Rumors are ripe about the Archos 7 Internet Tablet arriving anytime next month and though it is not a direct competitor to the Apple tablet, the Android OS choice is still good enough a reason for hype building.

True to the Archos nomenclature pattern, the tablet comes with a 7-inch touchscreen display and its 8GB model will be available upfront bearing a price tag of 180 Euros.

Although not confirmed, there may be a 2GB Archos 7 variant shipping later and it will cost 149 Euros. The Archos 7 will share some features with its 5-inch cousin bearing precise software for playing audio and video files.

Android tablets are being seen as an able low cost alternative to the Apple tablet but as always, the difference lies in the accessibility to the number applications. Sadly the Android based tablets do not have access to the Android marketplace while the ‘magical’ Apple tablet will get a million apps to choose from. [via: Ubergizmo]
