Samsung Galaxy S Hummingbird Chipset Has 3x More Power than Snapdragon CPUs and No One Even Cared

All these iPhones and Nexus One(s) sometimes make us ignore other attractive options in the market, and missing out on Samsung Galaxy S processor details is a good example. But, you will also have to blame Samsung for the boo boo as the company itself did not emphasize enough on this quality that should have been thoroughly highlighted, when the Android smartphone debuted at CTIA, a couple of days back.

Anyway, you should now know that the Samsung Galaxy S has the fastest ever chipset on an Android handset, which offers three times faster graphics processing than the hailed 1GHz Snapdragon CPU.

To be precise, the 1GHz Snapdragon QSD8×50 chip processes 22 million triangles per second whereas the Samsung 1GHz Application Processor manages an astounding 90 million triangles per second.

The Samsung Galaxy S comes with a Cortex-A8 based processor which is paired with a PowerVR SGX540 GPU and the two together manage to achieve such great computing speeds.

The next time around when some one jumps around you bragging about his Snapdragon laden chipset, make sure you talk about the Hummingbird from Samsung Galaxy S, for that is what you call really fast. [via: Androidandme]
