Nvidia’s New GF 104-Based Series Details Revealed

March 26, 2010, By Radimir Bobev

The long-awaited GeForce 400 series by Nvidia have at long last been released, after going through many delays. A German website have managed to get details on the next set of cards in the series, which will apparently be based on the GF 104 chipset and will be in the low-to-medium price range.

There will be three cards in this set, known for now as the GeForce GTS 450, GeForce GTS 440, and, logically, GTS 430. The names aren’t finalized from what we can tell and they’re just working ones.

As for the juicy parts – the specifications, here’s what we know: the GTS 450 will feature 256 shader coders, using a 256-bit memory interface. The GTS 440 is claimed to be 20% less productive, sporting roughly 204 shader cores. The entry-level GTS 430 will only have 192 cores and a 192-bit memory interface.

It looks like every one of the cards is aimed at competing with a certain product of ATi’s, and trying to excel in that as well. Let’s hope they live up to the expectations.
