iPad Availability on Best Buy Confirmed for April 3? Best Buy Supposedly Gearing Up for the Apple iPad Launch

March 26, 2010, By Alex Ion

If you’re a loyal Best Buy customer and you wouldn’t buy your stuff from anywhere else, be advised that rumors have it the Wi-Fi enabled Apple iPad is going to be available in select Best Buy stores, starting April 3rd.

Apparently the US chain store is gearing up to train staff and creating a special area — “store-within-a-store” Apple Shop sections as they are called, where Apple products will be sold. The drawback, if you can call it that way, only 675 stores (and that doesn’t include BestBuy.com) out of 1,000 will have the iPad.

From what we’re being told, Best Buy stores will be getting iPad promo materials early next week, along with details about the new iMac and a couple of notebooks from Apple’s lineup.

One thing that we didn’t expect though, it looks like the demo units encompass four separate SKUs, and we only knew of three Wi-Fi iPad models (16GB, 32GB and 64GB). If we’re to speculate (or better said, wish for) maybe there’s a fourth model that has both Wi-Fi and 3G? Something like a test model to see if there’s demand for it?
