Sprint HTC EVO 4G Release Date & Full Specs

March 24, 2010, By Alex Ion

Sprint’s first WiMAX handset is the new HTC EVO 4G, which up until yesterday was codenamed HTC Supersonic. But you already knew that. What you may not know is that today we managed to get the full specs list and found out that the release date is set for the second half of 2010 — which is probably around July?

An upgraded device compared to what we knew about the Supersonic, here’s what’s kicking under the stylish design of the Sprint EVO 4G?

  • a 4.3-inch 800×480 capacitive TFT touchscreen with multitouch capabilities out of the box;
  • 8-megapixel camera with LED flash and 720p HD video recording;
  • 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera for video conferences;
  • 1GB of flash memory where you can install apps;
  • 512MB RAM;
  • 1GHz Snapdragon processor;
  • 802.11b/g WiFi;
  • GPS/aGPS with free turn-by-turn navigation;
  • Bluetooth 2.1 A2DP + EDR;
  • 4G WiMAX technology / 3G EV-DO REV A;
  • FM Radio; HDMI out port; 3.5mm headset jack; microUSB port;
  • 8GB microSD card out of the box (expandable up to 32GB);
  • Digital compass, G-sensor, Proximity sensor, and a Light Sensor;
  • 1500mAh battery;
  • Kickstand on its back.
  • measures 4.8″ x 2.6″ x .5″, weighs 6 ounces

As you can see, that’s pretty solid. Why solid? Because that’s an upgraded 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon QSD8650 processor that rocks the show. Add to that, the fact that it runs Android 2.1 together with HTC Sense UI and that’s something we’re craving to get a hold of, as soon as possible.

If we have a hint when the HTC EVO 4G will be released, for now we have nothing regarding pricing, but word is that it won’t be more than $200 with a two year agreement on Sprint.
