Windows 7 Service Pack 1 Changes Won’t Be Major

March 19, 2010, By Radimir Bobev

Having been out for a while already, Windows 7 is due to receive its first Service Pack soon. And while many are excited about the changes it will bring, Microsoft have said that it’ll only include some minor updates, some of which have already been released.

Brandon LeBlanc from Microsoft revealed all this in an announcement made in a blog post – but it’s still not known when exactly the update will be released, not even in a beta version. According to LeBlanc though, businesses should not hold out until the update, and switch to Windows 7 as soon as possible.

Server owners would probably be interested to know about the new virtualization features present in the Windows Server 2008 R2 service pack though – Microsoft RemoteFX and Dynamic Memory. Also, the service pack will bring about client-side support for RemoteFX for Windows 7. The update should be available through Windows Update as usual, so keep an eye out soon.
