Valve’s Team Fortress 2 Receives Its First “Community Contribution” Update

March 19, 2010, By Radimir Bobev

While most of TF2’s players are eagerly anticipating the announcement of the Engineer update, Valve have released something to keep their fans occupied in the meantime. In this update, we get to see the first results of the “Community Contribution” project started a while ago.

When the project was launched, it gave players the opportunity to submit their own custom assets to Valve for eventual inclusion in the game. Today’s update introduces three new weapons and nine new hats (one for each class), all of which have been designed by community members.

While most agree that the new hats are fantastic, especially the ones for the Medic and Heavy, the weapons left players unsatisfied, as they’re more or less downgrades to their original counterparts. It’s normal to expect that Valve will release an update to address these issues, like they usually do, but we can only hope they do it sooner because new gameplay additions are always a fantastic way to breathe life into a game.
