Canon EOS 5D Mark II 2.0.4 Firmware Available for Download in Japan, Globally Soon

Pro photographers with an eye for Canon should already know that the newly released 2.0.3 EOS 5D Mark II firmware was a big disappointment as we’re hearing it caused audio problems for some users. But as always, Canon pushed the pedal and came up with a fix for the fix in record time, as we’re hearing the Canon EOS 5D Mark II 2.0.4 firmware has just been released in Japan and is available for download.

Canon EOS 5D Mark II Gets Firmware Update

“Recently we have discovered a malfunction that occurs with Firmware Version 2.0.3, in which the manual recording levels for C1/C2/C3 are changed and the camera becomes unable to record audio if the power is turned off (or if Auto power off takes effect) after registering “Sound Recording: Manual” in the camera user settings. We apologize very sincerely for the inconvenience, but we are going to stop making this firmware available for download. For customers who have already updated to the new firmware, when using the camera with the mode dial set to C1/C2/C3, please either set the sound recording settings to Auto.”

We are quite sure you know what the EOS 5D is all about so not getting into details this time around, but just wanted to let you all know that the EOS 5D Mark II 2.0.4 firmware will be available for download globally in a jiffy — you may want to grab the patch if you’re looking for 29.97 FPS and 23.976 FPS 1080p recording without any audio issues.
