March 17, 2010, By Thomas Antony

Everyone who has an HTC Hero and has been itching to “officially” get the latest Android flavor on their phones,  can breathe a bit easier now as leaked documents from HTC say that they will start pushing out the Android 2.1 updates by April 2nd. Earlier announcements from HTC at the MWC 2010 had placed the release date in February or March, which seems to have been postponed now. Now, starting on April 2nd, HTC will start pushing out the new version of Android to the unlocked versions of HTC Hero and later on to the carrier-specific versions.

After the unlocked versions, the T-Mobile UK/Germany branded versions will be the next ones to get the updates on April 16th. A tentative release schedule for the Android 2.1 update for HTC Hero is given below.
