Sony Finally Debuts ‘PlayStation Move’, their PS3 Motion Controller

Sony is in the mood to take a noticeable advantage in the Console supremacy war as it yesterday roped in six major studios to offer HD movies and now, the ‘ghostly’ PlayStation Move which is a Wii-mote like motion control unit with game support, has also been announced at the GDC.

The gaming world has long spoken about the arrival of this motion controller and Sony never revealed anything concrete about it but now, the silence has finally been broken at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco.

The PS3 motion controller replicates a black Wiimote but, it also gets the additional colored ball on top along-with the add-on nunchuck. The colored orbit is available in four different colors and it is indeed the PlayStation Eye camera that tracks movement.

As per Sony, the PlayStation Move is-fast, precise and accurate- and it measures exact movements which is way better than the inaccurate Nintendo’s system. Hardcore gamers tend to appreciate such levels of accuracy and this is where this motion controller could score above the Wiimote.

PlayStation Move also has a Move Sub-controller with a directional pad that facilitates regular control for menus or games which require a d-pad and motion simultaneously.

Sony is now developing games which will support motion control while some big games will also support the PS Move. Sony intends to sell this controller bundled with new PS3 packs, where a full starter kit could cost up to $100. [via: Electronista]
