Hardware Jailbreak for iPhone 3GS With the iDongle; Hacking Made Easy

March 11, 2010, By Siyahi

Ever came across an iDongle? May be not. For, iDongle has just debuted, and the promise is that it can jailbreak and activate an iPhone 3GS or iPod touch running OS 3.1.2 just by plugging it into the dock connector! The cunning piece of hacker-created hardware can jailbreak a factory fresh iPhone unit. Doesn’t that sound interesting?

So, now for more details on this hacker hardware. From what we are told, the iDongle has the capability to reboot a jailbroken iPhone away from a computer. This is perhaps a first timer among hacker creations, away from the PC jailbreaks haven’t been so talked about. But with the iDongle, all you need to do is carry the hardware wherever you go so that any jailbreak unit may not go undetected!

If you are still asking us what exactly this unit is, the answer is iDongle comes across as a standalone piece of hardware that could be deployed to boot your jailbroken device or tethered boot and optionally jailbreak it.

iDongle units are available only in limited numbers as of now. However, as a measure towards garnering finances for additional production of the device, pre orders have started being accepted. Who knows, when we are talking of an iPhone jailbreak, there could be more potential users for the iDongle.

Sweet, I love anything that pisses off Apple. Apple will probably sue them and settle out of court, but it’ll take some of their money and it’ll add to Steve Jobs future nervous breakdown.
