Samsung Spica now available on Rogers Canada

Rogers has announced that the android-powered Samsung Galaxy Spica smartphone is now available on their network. The quad-band phone is similar to the original Samsung Galaxy with its 3.2 inch AMOLED  touchscreen, 3G, GPS and WiFi connectivity. But it runs a new version of android ( Android 1.6 ) and runs on a faster 800MHz processor. But the 5 Megapixel camera in the original has been dropped in favour of a 3.2 megapixel one. One of the coolest features of this phone is that it supports playback of DivX and WMV videos.

The Rogers version comes in a cool white color and has features matching that of the original Spica and also packs with it a 2GB microSD card. With its native support for DivX, you can drop in movie files directly into the phone without any conversion.

While this is certainly not the cheapest Android smartphone available in Canada, with the HTC Hero available for $50 on Telus, with its rich feature set , it is a pretty good deal at $80 with a 3 year contract.
