Apple’s App Store Purge Continues – Sexy Apps Won’t be the Only Ones

March 8, 2010, By Radimir Bobev

Apple are continuing to purge apps from their App Store, as they’ve recently started. It all started with the “sexy” apps oriented towards displaying pleasing pictures of women. It looks like it won’t stop there though, as some developers are reporting that Apple will also be purging pre-made apps – for example, RSS apps which were made using templates from app-building websites.

New submissions of apps that are basically RSS feeds or business cards are being blocked, but at least this won’t affect any apps that have already been approved – also, Apple have informed the various app-building services such as AppMakr how they need to change their service in order to get their apps accepted again. Apparently, the required features include push notifications, accessing data offline, as well as in-app purchases.

This is certainly going in a good direction, as it’s great to see Apple finally apply some quality control over the apps in their store and make sure that what’s being offered is at least useful and unique in some way.
