Sony Vaio W Netbook Replacement, Vaio M details leaked

March 4, 2010, By Atul Roach

Sony has tried its hand at the Vaio M nomenclature before and it was a PC badge that existed for a while back in 2004 and it seems that Sony isn’t done with the dubbing yet. The Vaio M badging has surfaced again after a gap of 6 years and it is not for a new Sony notebook but a netbook that replaces the recently updated Sony Vaio W netbook series.

As per the leaked details, there isn’t much that separates the Vaio M from the Vaio W lineage and it is just the designing which gets altered along with a new name of course. On the inside, Vaio M gets the 1.66GHz Pine Trail-era Atom, 1GB of RAM and 250GB hard drive combo all of which is integrated in the latest W series.

The changes on the exterior are minimal as the Vaio M netbook differs from the Vaio W with a low res 1024×600 screen and headphone and microphone jacks on the front. The battery life of the netbook is also the same as the predecessor with 8 hours being promised and so is the Bluetooth 2.1 incorporation.

The Vaio M will cost lower than the current generation Vaio W netbook courtesy of the low resolution screen though Sony stills needs to confirm all these details officially. [via: Electronista]
