Sprint To Upgrade HTC Hero and Samsung Moment to Android 2.1 by May 2010

February 17, 2010, By Atul Roach

There were predictions about the Sprint HTC Hero getting an Android 2.1 update in March and with this Twitter tweet, we’ve come to realize that the Sprint subscribers will have to wait till April or May this year. Other than the HTC Hero, it will be the Samsung Moment which is slated to get lucky while the ones using Motorola Cliq still have to keep refreshing the Sprint Twitter account in anticipation.

Another handset that will switch to Android 2.1 will be the Droid Eris which means that Sprint will have three smartphones running Android 2.1 in Q2 2010.

It will not be a complete switchover to Android 2.1 as the tweet reads ‘currently working through options’ implying, that a decision is being made about the particular Android 2.1 traits to be entertained in this upgrade.

It is now up for the firmware experts to make their guess while we here at DM are heavily banking on the Friend Steam feature that is widget which collects users updates across different social networking services. For the HTC Hero specifically, better Exchange support can also be on the agenda. [via: Phandroid]
