Lenovo Thinkpad X201 series Info Leak hints at Upgraded Features

February 17, 2010, By Atul Roach

Lenovo’s upcoming X201 Thinkpad line has been unintentionally (or your never know) leaked with a set of specs hinting at upgrades to the Lenovo 12-inch ultra-portable lineage both on the outside as well as the inside. The documents confirm arrival of Thinkpad X201 with a 12-inch display and a number of processor options ranging from Core i7-620M option for the X201 to the Core i7-620LM for the X201s slimline model. Although these variants do not directly compete with the netbooks, a more powerful ultra-portable range can always be threatening.

Both the models will come laden with X200’s already existing option of a 2 megapixel webcam and speakers though the slimline model will have mono sound relayed through a single channel.

An advantage to the X201 slimline over the regular model will be that of an optional 1440×900 display instead of the usual 1280×800 panel.

The similarities between the upcoming range and the existing one are the ports meaning that there is no eSATA, no HDMI, or DisplayPort integrated while the leaked range will surface with a keyboard from the X20 territory.

There is no word on the release date yet but, gossip hounds speculate the range to arrive before this month ends. [via: GV]
