You read it right folks! Microsoft has gone ahead and announced a sneak preview of the Office for Mac 2011 while the software will be thoroughly released sometime later this year. The preview is scheduled to take place at the Macworld Expo in San Francisco and Microsoft is pretty excited about the event as it mentioned that the ‘Mac community has a voice and at the Microsoft Macintosh Business Unit, we listen’.

With an all new user interface, the 2011 edition of the Microsoft Software will offer co-authoring tools enabling users to work on Word, PowerPoint or Excel files regardless of their location. The feature in discussion is called-Presence Everywhere- and it will even render real-time details (status updates) on who is working on the document directly in the application.

As per Microsoft, the 2011 edition is the best and most compatible productivity suite on the Mac. Features like ‘Presence Everywhere’ make it special. Also, there are other specialties like the connection to Microsoft Office Web Apps from the application. This will facilitate accessing and sharing of Office documents from any computer that is connected to the web.

The Outlook for Mac is coming to the 2011 edition where it will replace the Entourage and it will import PST files from Outlook for Windows. This change has been incorporated upon customer response who had to otherwise suffer as the PST files could not be imported earlier to Windows. [via: Pocket-Lint]
