Star Wars: The Old Republic to arrive a bit late; EA not likely to release game before March 2011
Calling all gaming enthusiasts who have been waiting for the release of the BioWare Star Wars MMO, The Old Republic! Here’s some news byte for you that could result in lengthening your wait. Game maker EA has made it clear that the game won’t ship in the 12 months ending March 31, 2011.
It may be recalled that EA and Lucas had sometime ago said that the game might aim at a Spring 2011 release. The gaming major plans to continue to up significant development cost as it readies The Old Republic for launch. With costs expected to be huge, it is only likely that EA would wait for a bit more time before a specific date is charted out. It is expected that MMOs can cost as much as two to six, seven times as much as a front-line title, if they’re done right, said the EA top brass pointing out that it is indeed a major investment.
Think again, and you will notice that the tentative date thought of now by the company is not a delayed one as such. However, going by the magnitude of the project and the investment likely to be involved it is only natural that the game could take a bit more time.
