Google Twitter Killer Release Date Speculated for Next Week

Google has tried and failed on a lot many occasions but that does not deter the creativity of the internet behemoth which is now targeting Twitter as per a WSJ report. Google users can already update their status through Gmail and now the Twitter-like update platform will enable Google users to upload videos and images other than the status message.

For this, Google will make sure that the platform is close-knit with its video sharing platform YouTube and the image sharing base Picasa. The current problem is that every time a user will update his status the previous update will disappear.

As per WSJ, the new feature will allow Gmail users to view a stream of status updates from the people they choose to connect with. Google will have to be quick to understand that these updates will pour in and out of social networking sites like Facebook and twitter which should give it a head start as far as the user base is concerned.

Twitter is hopefully ready for some competition and interestingly this adds to the tally of the number of Google competitors. [businessinsider]
