Google Working on a Live Speech Translator
Google Translate is already extremely useful to many people – even though it’s far from useful when you need accurate translation, it’s indispensable in situations where you need the gist of something that you don’t understand. However, the company is already well ahead of technology behind the curtains, working on a phone that can actually translate spoken language. According to a statement made by the company, they expect the technology to be made possible within few years. Google state that there are two factors that are crucial to the success of this technology – high-end translation algorithms, as well as improved speech recognition. As Google stated, if they manage to solve those two, they’ll have their device ready to go. It’s not clear yet what the applications of this device will be – will it be used in a phone, or will it be able to translate actual conversation around you – though whatever the use, one thing is for certain – it will be highly useful.
