The Apple iPad Day II, Sales Estimates Start pouring in
The sensational Apple Tablet, iPad, which broke cover yesterday is a couple of months away before anyone can lay their hands on it but, that does not stop the market gurus from drawing sales estimates for the possible ‘gadget of the year’ and the first prediction sits at 3 or 4 million units sold in the first 12 months.

This prediction comes from Gene Munster (TUAW) whose initial estimate for the iPad sales in the first twelve months was 1.9 million units. Gene had to revise his numbers after the pricing of the iPad went public yesterday as he thought a basic model will cost a minimum of $600.
Gene’s revised estimate is that Apple will succeed in selling up to 4 million units in the first year and the count will double in 2011-implying that Apple will sell 8 million iPad Tablets by 2011.
As per him, the iPad will not pose any threat to the Mac sales as the gadget is a mobile device and not a computer. Indeed, it will be the iPod touch which may experience a slump and the future sales for the gadget will see a downturn. [Courtesy: TUAW]
